Three Visionary–Integrator partnerships, read through the same model a live pairing uses.
These are readings of a published record, not of people. All six consented to nothing and all six are dead. Every stance placement below is proposed—argued here from the documented facts beside it, and not put through the designation walk the ruled ones go through.
What is real is the model. These run through the same functions a live pairing does, on the same footing rules—which is why each one reads as bounded: an inferred stance over a hypothesised rhythm, carried to the band without anyone adding a caveat by hand.
Disney
Named in Rocket Fuel's own copy as one of three companies. The brothers are the historical record's pairing, not the book's.
Walt DisneyVisionaryCatalyst · Initiate then Coordinateproposed
Creative head of the company under an explicit split with his brother, with two informal staffs—“Walt’s Boys” on the creative side. Each venture starts a category rather than extending one: the synchronised-sound cartoon, the first animated feature, the theme park, and a planned community still in initial planning when he died in December 1966. Initiate leads on that record; Coordinate is present but is the half he handed over.
Roy O. DisneyIntegratorAnchor · Coordinate then Punctuateproposed
Ran the financial side across the whole partnership—“Roy’s Boys” were the finance and legal departments. The Punctuate secondary is the close rather than the running: he came out of retirement after Walt’s death to finish the Florida project, insisted the resort carry his brother’s name, dedicated it on 25 October 1971, and died on 20 December 1971, weeks after it opened. He returned for one deed, completed it, and stopped.
How it ended
Not by a break. Walt died in 1966 with the company’s largest project unbuilt, and Roy came back to finish it and then died himself within weeks of its opening. The Integrator outlasted the Visionary by exactly one delivery.
How this combination reads
Targeted
The combination is held back in Operational integrity and Relational calibration—a structural fact about how these two ways of working meet, not a judgement about either person.
One side of this is inferred rather than measured, so it describes a likely pattern and not a finding about these two people.

McDonald’s
Named in Rocket Fuel's own copy as one of three companies.
Ray KrocVisionaryCatalyst · Coordinate then Initiateproposed
⚠️ Coordinate leads rather than Initiate, which is the opposite of the usual reading of him and is the reason it is argued here: he did not invent the product—the McDonald brothers did—and his defining work is turning one restaurant into a system. The 1967 break is the same evidence: he insisted on continuing expansion, which is scaling, not starting.
Harry SonnebornIntegratorNavigator · Integrate then Coordinateproposed
Route-found the company’s actual economics: he proposed that the company own the land under its franchises, formed Franchise Realty to hold it, and devised the two-mortgage arrangement that financed the buildings. Kroc called him his “financial wizard” and credited him with raising the funds to buy out the McDonald brothers. By 2018 that real-estate structure was roughly 99% of the company’s assets. Integrate leads: the insight is a structure studied to the bottom, not a thing begun.
How it ended
Over a reading of the terrain. Sonneborn resigned in June 1967 holding that the country was heading into a recession, while Kroc insisted on continuing expansion. Neither was wrong about the other’s job; they disagreed about the conditions.

Ford
Named in Rocket Fuel's own copy as one of three companies.
Henry FordVisionaryCatalyst · Initiate then Modulateproposed
Freed to focus on the automobiles by a business manager who took the rest. The founding record is a sequence of things begun rather than extended, which is what places Initiate first.
🔴 The weakest of the six, and the contest is stated rather than hidden. Catalyst reads from the founding acts—the car for the multitude, the moving line, the five-dollar day. But holding the Model T unchanged for nineteen years against every pressure to change it is a standard defended, which reads Sentinel. A designation walk would have to settle which the columns support; this one has not been run.
James CouzensIntegratorAnchor · Coordinate then Punctuateproposed
Business manager from the 1903 founding—company secretary, then vice president and general manager from 1906. He kept the books, paid the bills, and is credited with the sales distribution scheme that built the company’s volume, which is the machinery running. Punctuate is the exit twice over: he resigned as general manager in 1915, left altogether in 1919, and sold his stock back for roughly $30 million.
How it ended
By the Integrator leaving and not looking back. Couzens stepped down as general manager in 1915, left in 1919, sold out, and went on to be Detroit’s mayor and then a United States senator. The clean exit is itself the reading—he had somewhere else to put the same capacity.

All three read Targeted. That is the interesting part.
Not one of these famous partnerships lands in the top band, and each lands there for the same reason: they drain on operational integrity, and two of three on relational calibration. Those are the two areas that are spent in every exchange rather than settled once—so the pair reads at the floor, not the sum. A Visionary and an Integrator are chosen to be far apart, and far apart is expensive exactly where the work is daily.
Which is a familiar conclusion arrived at from the other direction: it is why these pairs need a meeting cadence and a clear accountability line. The friction is not a sign the pairing is wrong. It is the running cost of the thing that makes it work on direction and structure, where all three read clean.
⚠️ What this is not. Three examples, on placements proposed here rather than ruled. Place these six people differently and the bands move. So this is evidence about what the model does with these placements—not evidence about Visionary–Integrator pairs in general, and not a finding about anyone named above.
What would settle these
A designation walk: the stance family argued across separate evidence columns, the phase tallied from the record, the signature gated on those columns agreeing, and the prediction registered before it is scored so a miss is visible. Twenty-seven designations have been through it. None of these six has, and until one does, proposed is the honest word for them.
